How much does a website cost?

Ah, the eternal question: “How much does a website cost?”
It is undoubtedly the most asked question I get.

You've decided you need a website? Perfect! A website is essential for your branding and visibility. But the cost of a website can vary from free or a few euros to a reasonable sum where you could buy a small car. So what should you pay for a website?

How much does a website really cost?

1. The free route

Why pay if you can do it yourself?

Let’s start at rock bottom. his is the DIY route: platforms like Wix, WordPress.com, Squarespace.
You drag, drop, click a few buttons, and voilà — There are also AI website builders that promise a “complete website in 5 minutes.” And yes, technically, you’ll have a website. But it often looks like it was assembled by a confused robot with commitment issues.
This option costs you little to nothing financially — but it costs you credibility. A bad website scares away clients, lowers trust, hurts conversions, and screams “I’m not serious.” Free websites are fine for hobby projects or testing ideas. But if you want customers to trust you with their money, this is not the move.

2. The design agencies

For the Ferrari of websites

Want to really go all out? Then you need a design agency like gesture'space. You'll pay between $5,000 and $20,000 or more. But you'll get a website and a complete brand identity that could win a Pulitzer Prize (if only there were websites). This is the place to be if you want to be among the big players and confidently outshine your competitors.

So… what’s right for you?

Apple didn’t win because of a beautiful website.Their website became powerful because it reflects a strong brand, clear thinking, and obsessive attention to detail.

Startups & side hustlers with no budget:
Go DIY or hire an affordable freelancer. Get online, validate your idea, and don’t overthink it.
Startups with a budget& independent entrepreneurs:
Hire a professional web designer. You’ll look credible, attract better clients, and avoid wasting money on constant fixes and redesigns.
Small & medium-sized businesses:
Work with a professional designer or agency. You need a website that converts, scales, and represents your brand properly.
Large companies & established brands:
Invest in a full-service agency. Your website is a business asset — treat it like one.

You get what you pay for.

So, how much does a website cost? It costs what you want to invest in your company's future. But whatever your budget, make sure the website represents your company in a memorable way and doesn't look like cheap clip art. Because cheap can quickly become expensive.

And we know that a logo is just a logo. Do you know Airbnb’s early website was so basic that the founders personally went door-to-door taking photos because the site itself wasn’t converting.
